From concerts and comedy to classical music – Weimar has it all. Barely a week goes by without some festival or exciting event taking place in Weimar. Classical concerts, touring shows featuring international artists, plays on stage and in the open air and many exhibitions at Weimar's museums.

The Night of Museums

The temples of culture and history will be opened until late in the night. Inhabitants as well as tourists or culture vultures can join the stream of visitors to visit all museums in Weimar until midnight.

2nd International Dance Festival Weimar

A new Weimar festival - dedicated to contemporary dance with performances of established dance companies, interactive performances and newcomer productions at Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar. Beside the dance there are films, workshops and talks.

Yiddish Summer

Yiddish Summer Weimar 2012 celebrates the rich Yiddish culture! This popular event includes workshops over several days that are an opportunity to learn more about yiddish songs, dances, the Yiddish language and instrumental Klezmer music. Evening jam sessions at Weimar cafés are a great way for newcomers to discover Klezmer and take part in intercultural dialogue.

A Nordic Night

An evening full of music in the beautifully illuminated grounds of the Weimarhalle. Weimar State Orchestra performs works by famous Nordic composers like Edvard Grieg or Jean Sibelius. A mouth watering range of Nordic specialities ensure visitors won‘t go hungry either.

3rd Bach Biennale Weimar

Appealing and demanding aren’t opposites: with top-class artists and ensembles, solo, chamber, and orchestra music, informative talks, city tours, birthday party for “Friede” and culinary delights from the Baroque era at authentic Bach-locations, the BACH BIENNALE WEIMAR spans a rich and gripping century of music history.

Weimar Art Festival

The "pèlerinages" art festival in Weimar is held every year in August and September. Large numbers of visitors enjoy four weeks of superb cultural events ranging from music, theatre and dance to fine arts and film.

The Weimar Classic Foundation celebrates the birthday of Goethe on Sunday, 28th. The Roman House in the park on the Ilm will be the centre of the celebrations: illuminated "islands" with music, theatre or readings will turn the park into a magic place.
