the big Summer Open Air concert
A Nordic Night
Deep green meadows and quiet fjords, dancers beneath the birch trees and spinning trolls, fleeting northern lights and endless nights: Under the motto "A Nordic Night", the Staatskapelle Weimar will be crowning the concert summer with a spectacular open air concert in the atmosphere of the illuminated Weimarhallenpark on Saturday, 7 July 2012 at 8:00 pm.
The programme consists of music from the Scandinavian home country of General Music Director Stefan Solyom, who raves about the sweeping Scandinavian landscapes. Edvard Grieg's "Peer Gynt" Suite along with the dance-like midsummer night sounds of Hugo Alfvén and Oskar Merikanto will be performed.
Typical Scandinavian snacks and beverages will transform the evening into a Nordic Feast for the senses, where the audience will either be seated on the terraces of the Weimarhalle or on the lawn in the park. Fireworks will top off this extraordinary concert evening, which usually attracts up to 4,000 people.
