The Tourist Information Weimar is open from Mon - Sat 9.30 am - 5 pm, Sun 9.30 am - 2 pm. The same access rules apply as for shops.

The most of museums, memorials and galleries in Weimar are open. Besides the Wittumspalais, the park cave and the city castle. 

Untill January 31st, 2022 the House of the Weimar Republic is closed.

And untill March 21st, 2022 these museums are closed too:

  • Ducal vault
  • Haus Am Horn
  • Haus Hohe Pappeln
  • Nietzsche Archive
  • Liszt Haus



Cultural events

Cultural events with 2G rules (for vaccinated or recovered) are permitted. Please note that all visitors must wear a medical mask that covers their nose and mouth.

Hotels and guesthouses are open for tourist overnight stays. Holiday flats and holiday homes can be rented out. Please note the 2G rules (vaccinated and recovered) in all accommodations.



Weimar's shops are open. 2G (vaccinated or recovered) is required for entry. Please note that all visitors must wear a medical mask that covers their nose and mouth.

Restaurants, cafés and pubs can open outdoor areas and indoor spaces. 2G (vaccinated or recovered) certificate is required for the entry. Please note, that the resaturants must be kept closed from 10.00pm.

With the help of various supporters, the city of Weimar has set up nine Corona rapid test centres. There, tests are possible without pre-registration (with one exception).
