Prologue in Weimar

Weimar will host the big start of Germany's most important cycling race and the venue of a premiere: for the first time since its relaunch, the Tour of Germany will begin with a prologue. The opening time trial on 24 August will lead the 132 professionals through the city of culture.

It will be an eventful visit to Weimar for the Tour of Germany. A prelude in which the spectators will be the focus of attention, because Weimar offers countless opportunities to experience the world's best cyclists up close. The time trial at the start of the Tour will take the pros on a lap right through Weimar, close to the fans and some of Germany's most important cultural monuments: the city of Goethe, Schiller and the Bauhaus combines two UNESCO World Heritage ensembles.

13:00 Start of the Deutschlandtour programme on Goetheplatz and start of the Expo on St.-Hessel-Platz

13:00-19:00 The Prologue virtually on Goetheplatz
On three wheels with smart trainers via the cycling reality app Rouvy, all those interested will have the opportunity to (experience) the Weimar prologue route in real video on screen. The cycling club 1990 "Die Löwen" Weimar e.V. will thus present itself and introduce local racing cycling.

13:00-14:00 60 for 60: Charity Everyman Prologue
Ride the real prologue course under the same conditions as the pros, compare times - and do good. For 60€ each, 60 starting places will be awarded to go off the ramp in 60-second intervals and pass the challenge: How close do I come to the times of the pros or can I even keep up? The proceeds will be donated to the Lebenshilfe Werk Weimar/Apolda e.V. for the purchase of a special bicycle to enable people in need of support to experience joy and exercise on a bike.

Hell Tour (Germany, 2004)
"The Tour de France is more than just a bicycle race. It is a myth, a legend, a phenomenon - but above all an event that you look forward to every year. With old acquaintances, surprising twists, tragic heroes and an ending that is predictable only in one respect: the last stage leads to Paris."
