Foreigners' Advisory Council

The Foreigners' Advisory Council existing since 2000 is a representative of all foreign fellow citizens and Germans with a migration background in the first generation living in Weimar, by whom it is elected according to basic democratic rules. The members of the Foreigners' Advisory Council work on a voluntary basis for a term of 5 years.

Any adult foreign fellow citizen who has residence permit and has had his/her main residence in Weimar for at least 3 months, as well as any German with a migration background in the first generation, is entitled to vote and can be elected to the Foreigners' Advisory Council.

The Foreigners' Advisory Council advocates equal coexistence for Germans and migrants as well as tolerance, acceptance and respect at all levels of political, social and economic life. It supports the intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity in society and opposes all forms of exclusion and discrimination. It supports projects against right wing radicalism, racism and xenophobia and promotes integrative actions and events.

The aim of the work of the Foreigners Advisory Board is to increase mutual understanding between the German and foreign population and to improve the living conditions of migrants.
